Gambling is an intriguing human activity. It changes individuals in many ways and continues to develop increasingly since gambling was introduced. Gambling has been a form of entertainment for many more years than it seems. â€Å"During the year of 1497, John Cabot found a native population who played a bunch of games of chance†. (â€Å"Gambling 101†) Unfortunately, around 1892, all gambling activities were banned by the Canadian criminal code. (â€Å"Gambling 101†) As the years went by, the rules became less strict, which gave the chance for numerous forms of gambling to become legal. Since then, the growth and significance has highly increased, it has even transformed into a popular pastime. (â€Å"Gambling 101†) In 1989, Winnipeg was the first province in Canada to have a permanent casino (â€Å"Gambling 101†). Within a small period of 14 years, 76 facilities were built which offered gambling activities such as slot machines and even game tables .
